flat ground, flat feet, and a flat out bummer

June 23rd, 2009 by MikeO

So i started having foot pain after an especially heavy skate session in May and decided to see my foot doctor about it.  I have some super flat feet and I’ve been working to keep ‘em in good shape for a while but the day of my first visit, doc told me that i would have to go in for an MRI and might possibly need surgery…yikes.  Today i had my follow-up for this MRI and according to it, i have some sort of chronic damage to the tendon under my foot from skating, and bone structure that could lead to some harsh arthritis when I’m older.  This is all a pretty big bummer, but the doc says that i can keep on skating and talk about a possible surgery in 5 or 6 months.  The pain isn’t very bad at the moment but an unrelated injury has me of the board.  happy skating :D

Keep you chin up. I had herniated disk surgery (not from skateing) in my lower back when I was 18, and again when i was 28. I’m now nearly 45 and able to skate no problem.

Take care man. It is more important to walk than skate. :P At least you aren’t jumpin’ down stairs.
